Driving While Suspended

Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (DWLS/DWLR) is a criminal offense that may carry jail time, substantial fines, and additional driver's license consequences. Depending upon the reason for the suspension or revocation and your prior record, the offense may be charged as either a misdemeanor or a felony.

Certain violations also carry mandatory minimum jail sentences, making experienced legal representation particularly important.

The prosecution typically relies upon certified driving abstracts, law enforcement testimony, and evidence identifying the driver.

An attorney can review whether the traffic stop was lawful, determine whether the State can prove every required element of the offense, identify potential licensing issues, and pursue resolutions that minimize both criminal penalties and future driver's license consequences.
